Job Summary

Climb trees to preform trimming and removal of branches, tree limbs or entire trees. Ornamental pruning and removals of all sizes. Must work well with others in a group and be able to maintain and operate all Tree trimming related equipment in a safe manner.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Safely climb to trim or cut down trees using;  limbing hooks and belts, or climb ladders to gain access to work areas. 
  • Safely operate equipment such as;  boom trucks, loaders, stump chippers, brush chippers, tractors, power saws, sprayers, and other equipment and tools.
  • Safely work on ground level; assisting ground grew, clearing branches and debris, operating ground equipment if necessary
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment - PPE, at all times, such as helmet, safety glass,, safety vest.
  • Use required gear to ascend and descend, such as rope and harness, carabiners,pullys, throw weights and slingshots. metal loops if required.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly Safety Tailgate Meetings

Qualifications and Skills

  • Climbing Skills using Double Rope Technique - DRT or Single Rope Technique - SRT
  • Knott Tying Skills, using the bowline and clove hitch, both of which are multi-purpose climbing knots. Also, the double fisherman's knot, which connects two lines together; the figure eight, used for stopping and the Blake's Hitch knot, used for descent.
  • Safe use of chain saws, trimmers and ground equipment
